rumi Ⅰ
Rumi restaurant boasts 10 years of acclaim as a well-loved icon of Melbourne’s north. Our client wanted to retain the character of the existing restaurant while enlivening and refreshing the space. The brief was to balance traditional and modern; “authentic with a refined approach”.
Our approach was a light touch: a bold paint colour for the walls, reworking of joinery at the bar and entry, and a focus on the banquet zone as a room within a family home. Client provided a rich collection of photos, posters and objects middle eastern to achieve a balance between old and new, tradition and contemporary.
